SKAGIT RIVERBALD EAGLE INTERPRETIVE CENTER2006/7 Speaker SchedulePresentations begin at 11a.m. Saturdays and Sundays, last about 45 minutes and are in slide show format. in the North Cascades Sat., Dec. 23 Komo Kulshan Outdoor School staff & friends: “The Saga of the Sockeye Salmon” – a puppet show for all ages! Sun., Dec. 24 Christie Fairchild, SRBEIC Coordinator: “The Great Gift” Sat Dec. 30: Sardis Raptor Center’s “Hunters of the Sky” – TWO LIVE BIRD SHOWS (11:00am & 1:30pm) Suggested donation: $2.00/person or $5.00/family, seating limited to 49 per show. This program will be held in Steelhead Park’s Clubhouse, down the road from the Interpretive Center. Sun. Dec. 31: Jim Harris, local historian/retired NPS ranger: “North Cascades Ecosystems – We Are All Connected…” In addition, the SRBEIC staff will again be offering a family-oriented, Guided River Walk each Saturday and Sunday at 1:30 pm, exploring the lives of the 2-legged, 4-legged, winged and finned residents calling the Upper Skagit their home – Wear winter-appropriate clothing and footwear, and expect to be out for 1 ½-2 hours. Call for more information: 853-7626 Back to Top Sat., Jan. 6: Jim Alt, The Nature Conservancy (TNC) –The Bald Eagle Natural Area and TNC’s work in the upper Skagit for 25 years Sun., Jan. 7: Britta Eschete, People for Puget Sound – “Song of the Salish Sea” (Documentary film on the natural and cultural history of the Puget Sound region) Sat. Jan. 13: RIVER ART! Seattle’s Alice Dubiel, recently featured “Artist-in-Residence” at North Cascades National Park, shares stories and images of her work (11:00). Then, join Alice, and other local artists, in an interactive workshop – sketch, paint, print, work with fibers, plaster, stone and clay – and take home something wonderful from the Skagit! (Steelhead Park’s Clubhouse: 12:00 to 3:00) Donation requested to cover cost of materials. Sun., Jan 14: – Marieke Slovin, SRBEIC, “Electric Eagles?!?”- Riparian Species Survival in a Hydropower World” Sat., Jan. 20 Doug Bruland, Fisheries Biologist, Puget Sound Energy – PSE’s efforts to restore and enhance sockeye salmon populations in the Baker River Sun., Jan. 21 Lucy Applegate, Skagit Fisheries Enhancement Group – land restoration projects for habitat enhancement Sat.
