 Skagit
County Parks are an investment in the physical, mental and spiritual
connection for all citizens with the natural beauty that surrounds them. The
Skagit Parks Foundation is a private, non-profit organization committed to
providing resources and partnerships that create and sustain beautiful and
active parks. Your memberships and donations will benefit all citizens and
aid Skagit County in providing a broad range of public places for the
enjoyment of nature and numerous recreational activities. These donations

Skagit
County is located in the northwest portion of Washington State, USA.
between Seattle, Washington and Vancouver, B.C. Canada.
The majestic Cascade Mountains stand to the east,
overlooking a fertile valley boasting a variety of agricultural crops.
Running through the valley is the powerful Skagit River flowing westward
toward the beautiful San Juan Islands. World famous tulip fields blanket the
valley in the spring. Flocks of Canadian geese, snow geese and
trumpeter swans can be seen here in the winter. Bald eagles soar overhead
year round and great blue herons stand along the shorelines.

Involving
Communities in Restoring Watersheds of Skagit County, the San Juan Islands
and Northern Whidbey Island.
Educational projects and
presentations are designed to increase public awareness and get the
community excited about saving our salmon resources.
SFEG visits schools, community groups
and service clubs to deliver educational presentations and teach the
community about salmon. We partner with many organizations including North
Cascades Institute (NCI) to deliver the Skagit Watershed Education Project
to classrooms, sponsor stream clean-ups, and arrange service projects for
students of all ages. |

We inspire close relationships with nature
through direct experiences in the natural world. Since 1986,
North Cascades Institute (a nonprofit
organization) has worked to conserve and restore Northwest environments
through education
Torrents of water fall as rain
and snow here, and as a result, 519 glaciers cover over 90 square miles
between Snoqualmie Pass and the Canadian border. Lakes nestle in tight
pockets between sharp, often serrated ridges. Most of these lakes are
natural, while a few are reservoirs behind dams.
The North Cascades is a dramatic
place of deep-green hillsides and rock faces raked by streamers of cloud,
gleaming glaciers riven by crevasses, rivers racing under gray skies, and
ravens rolling on the wind."
